THE TEAM/ROLE
H+K Strategies’ London Healthcare team is one of the strongest and most experienced in health communications in the world.  We are looking to add an ambitious and highly motivated Client Services Director, (CSD), to take a lead role on a key international healthcare client and drive new business, helping us grow our portfolio and our people. We hope to find someone with experience, energy and excitement who wants to join a team where culture matters, creativity is encouraged and patient-centricity rules.

The main client our new CSD will lead is Shire Healthcare - pioneers in liver and rare diseases, amongst other therapeutic areas. The successful CSD will join a passionate team that is proud of its industry-leading work in patient advocacy and disease awareness, internal comms/change programmes and product communications. Work will be on a European and international level, putting the patient at the centre of what they do, across an enviable client portfolio. 

The Healthcare team lead some of the biggest names in pharma at a UK, European and Global level, so the potential for this role is huge.  In addition to a healthy team dynamic where collaboration is encouraged, there is also a strong new business pipeline, and an enviable client list that includes Amgen, Roche, Shire, Gilead, GSK, Novartis and Lundbeck.

CLIENT

Shire is a 15-year-old global biotech business, with headquarters in Zug, Switzerland and Lexington, Massachusetts. Devoted to improving the lives of people with life-altering conditions, it is now the largest rare disease company in the world.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • Provide senior level strategic counsel and insight, bold ideas and creativity to meet client requirements
  • Be a trusted advisor to the client, introduce new services and create opportunities that result in revenue growth
  • Keep the client happy, add value to the client relationships and deepen H+K’s partnership with them
  • Help professionally develop other members of the team, act as a team coach, mentor and motivator to the team, creating a high performance culture.
  • Encourage and demonstrate collaborative working
  • Effective communications specialist with a proven record in leading, managing and growing a profitable portfolio of business
  • A passion for and understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare business, including the relevant regulations and digital savvy
  • Both global and UK expertise and agency experience; knowledge of consumer healthcare also useful
  • Strong track record of successful senior client and third-party relationships 
  • Proven global client contacts
  • Ability to take a lead internal role in a network of European healthcare communicators
  • Natural leadership capabilities with exceptional people management and development skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

    CLIENT MANAGEMENT

  • Provide senior level strategic counsel and insight, bold ideas and creativity to meet client requirements
  • Be skilled at both long term and real time content creation and publishing strategies and tactics
  • Champion the importance of client satisfaction and service within the team, leading by example and encouraging positive client relationship building behaviour
  • Understand the art of presentation skills and story telling and bring ideas to life with the ability to adapt preentation styles to various different audiences

    PEOPLE

  • Continuously focus efforts on developing and enhancing the skills and capabilities of the team – encourage learning
  • Foster a creative team culture, championing stand-out work and encouraging bold and innovative approaches, ensuring the team delivers ideas and solutions with impact
  • Act as a team coach, mentor and motivator to the team, creating a high performance culture, encouraging and demonstrating collaborative working
  • Consistently set clear goals for team members, support development and manage performance

    NEW BUSINESS / COMMERCIAL

  • Take an active lead in new business development and generation.  Plan and drive new business pitching and conversion
  • Support the MD to establish and articulate the team’s point of view in the healthcare sector for both internal and external audiences
  • Monitor client budgets, management accounts and over-servicing reports and take pro-active steps to meet key targets and ensure team profitability
