Senior Consultant - H+K Strategies

The Issues + Crisis team is a group of 10 talented PR practitioners whose strength lies in its ability to work seamlessly across the full gambit of H+K Strategies’ clients from Energy + Industrials, Food + Drink, Retail + Leisure, to Technology, Sport and Healthcare. Many of the projects the team work on are amongst the most fascinating, high profile, and confidential in the communications industry. 

This thriving practice is now entering an exciting phase of growth driven by some exciting new business wins and needs a talented Senior Consultant, who will report directly into the Director of Issues + Crisis. 

The team manages a range of clients across a broad range of sectors including Energy, Sport, Food and Retail. 


  • Take a leading role in developing the global and UK client crisis work, developing best practice relating to client service
  • Be a trusted advisor to clients, add value to client relationships, providing high level strategic counsel
  • Lead the facilitation and messaging sessions and scenario planning with senior clients
  • Facilitate media training
  • Address and manage potential risks for clients and continue to develop crisis communication strategies and plans for immediate clients and those within the wider H+K London client roster
  • Act as a representative for the division in relevant specialist forums or network groups and participate where appropriate in relevant speaker platforms
  • Support development and roll-out of exciting new tools and services for social media crisis preparedness and response
  • Drive escalation of knowledge within the team, continuously focus efforts on developing and enhancing the skills and capabilities of the practice
  • Provide recommendations and insight to growth strategies for clients, identify new opportunities and play a proactive role in terms of proposal development, pitching and conversion
  • Oversee and support the growth and development of junior Issues + Crisis team members
  • Responsible for budget monitoring, revenue forecasting and planning, overseeing client budgets and fee negotiation to ensure correct level of profitability 


  • Exceptional writing and communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Solid working knowledge of digital channels/social media platforms
  • Interest in, and understanding of, business issues, news and politics, the media and the world around you in general
  • Well-organised client project and budget management
  • The ability to develop pro-active and lasting client relationships
  • An eye for new business opportunities with clients and new leads
  • Team player but a self-starter with the presence to manage very bright staff
  • High energy multi-tasker, quick and diligent with strong writing capability and good attention to detail
