BOSTON, April 26—Seventeen technology public relations firms, representing every country in Western Europe as well as the United States, have joined together to form the Eurocom PR Network. The network is led from the U.K. by Tom Burgess of EMGtech, a year-old boutique firm, and represented in the U.S. by Carol Wolicki of Chrysalis Communications.

According to Burgess, the network is designed to support multinational companies from the U.S. and elsewhere, providing them with “a consistent and scalable approach to marketing across Europe with one contact and billing point.” It will help partner PR firms compete against multinational agencies by providing pan-European service.

The network brings together 140 people from 17 firms working for 150 clients and with collective billings of approximately $12.5 million. Members include HardCom of France, GlobalCom of Germany, Sengalli Marketing & Communications of Italy, and Best Relations of Spain, as well as members in Finland, Greece, Ireland, Israel, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates (providing coverage of the Middle East). Most members have between 5 and 10 employees.

Says Burgess, “We are clearly differentiated by our comprehensive coverage in the European market and our prime specialization in technology markets. We offer a clear alternative to the over-priced multinational firms for North American companies who are interested in expanding their awareness in Europe at a price point that is cost-effective.”

Wolicki launched Chrysalis in 1991 and has represented clients including Bay Networks, Banyan, and Digital Equipment, and relaunched the firm recently after spending a year as senior vice president at Kelly Habib John, an integrated marketing agency based in Boston.
