BOSTON—More than 20 marketing organizations have donated their time and expertise to Making Change for Katrina, an initiative created  by Boston-based public relations firm Cone campaign to collect spare change to benefit victims of the Gulf Coast hurricanes.

The firms bring expertise in the areas of brand identity development, media production and placement, grassroots marketing, website technology, public relations and celebrity recruitment to launch the campaign, which will benefit Habitat for Humanity, which builds simple, decent housing with people in need.

Cone is serving as the project’s director. Partners include BBDO, Brodeur, Bzz Agent, Clear Channel, Creative Artists Agency, Discovery Educator Network, DS Simon Production, Opinion Research, Porter Novelli, and Siegel & Gale.

“With just over 200 simple, decent Habitat houses now completed or under construction in the hurricane-affected states, and with hundreds more planned in the months ahead, our recovery efforts are well underway,” says Habitat for Humanity senior vice president of communications Chris Clarke. “With this additional support of Cone and these many generous organizations we can build more and more houses, serve more and more families.”
