CASABLANCA—Twenty-four public relations agencies from across Africa will be honored at the first ever African SABRE Awards ceremony, which will be held as part of the African Public Relations Association’s annual conference in Morocco next month.

Clients of Burson-Marsteller (including Engage Burson-Marsteller in Kenya and Blast Burson-Marsteller in Mauritius) will receive four SABRE trophies, while clients of Ogilvy Public Relations have won three SABREs. There will be two trophies each for Instinctif Partners and Morocco-based PR Media (a Hill+Knowlton affiliate).

A full list of winners can be found here. In addition, five campaigns have been shortlisted for the Platinum SABRE Award, which recognizes the best public relations campaign in Africa last year. Those campaigns are:

  • Ford—Ford with PR Media
  • Making Nuclear Necessary: South African Campaign—Rosatom with Instinctif Partners
  • NextGenFactor: Fishing for Talent—PwC Mauritius with Blast Burson-Marsteller
  • #ProTESTHIV—Anglo-American with Ogilvy Public Relations Joheannsburg
  • SA Tomorrow—Johannesburg Stock Exchange with Hill+Knowlton Strategies

The winner of the Platinum SABRE will be announced at the awards ceremony. Tickets for both the awards and the APRA Conference can be reserved at the APRA website. The conference is May 10-12 with the SABRE dinner on the evening of the May 11.
