SAN FRANCISCO—The Abernathy MacGregor Group has opened an office in San Francisco to be headed by West Coast corporate communications veteran Jerry Giaquinta.

Ian Campbell, managing director of AMG West, which opened with a Los Angeles office eight years ago, says Giaquinta’s expertise in corporate and strategic communications, crisis and issues management, brand reputation and operational analysis complement the firm’s existing capabilities.

Previously, Giaquinta served in senior corporate communications and marketing roles with Sony Pictures, Silicon Graphics, Tandem Computers, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. He was also president of Chiat Day Advertising’s public relations subsidiary.  Most recently, he was president and CEO of The Giaquinta Group, where he advised clients including Visa USA, Sony, General Motors, MGM, Daimler Chrysler, Toyota, World Expo Japan, Netflix and numerous technology and entertainment ventures.

AMG provides corporate and financial public relations, investor relations, crisis communications and transaction communications counsel to a broad range of corporations and institutions.  Over the past decade, AMG has advised clients on more than 450 M&A transactions, initial public offerings and restructurings and consistently ranks as one of the top communications firms in the United States.
