TORONTO—Manning Selvage & Lee Toronto has been appointed as public relations agency of record for Loblaw Companies, a leading Canadian food distributor. The agency’s mandate will include consumer PR support for President’s Choice food and home brands, clothing label Joe Fresh Style, President’s Choice Financial and other general products.  MS&L was chosen after a PR agency review involving three other firms. “The MS&L team offers a unique combination of creativity, expertise in developing programs that build relationships beyond traditional media as well as a dedication to measurement,” says Elizabeth Margles, vice president of public relations and corporate communications for Loblaw Companies.

RALEIGH, NC—Capstrat has been engaged by Talecris Plasma Resources to assist with the company’s marketing and communications needs. In addition to working with parent company Talecris Biotherapeutics, Capstrat will begin new work with Talecris Plasma Resources to promote plasma donation and support the growing demand for plasma products.  Capstrat will assist Talecris Plasma Resources with strategy, public relations, event management, media relations and advertising. In addition, Capstrat will also work on web development and internal communications.

CHICAGO— Emmis Radio has hired MWW Group to implement corporate communications initiatives for two Chicago stations, WKQX-FM and WLUP-FM. NEW YORK—The Morris + King Company has been retained by Qtrax, a peer-to-peer music service.  MKC will create and execute a public relations campaign that will showcase the position Qtrax has taken within the music industry by creating an innovative ad-supported music downloading model that directs revenue back to artists and rights holders.

NEW YORK—Maloney & Fox has been named agency of record for eMusic.com, the number two music download site in America. The firm will manage all consumer and music-industry media relations for the site and will help eMusic.com launch new products later this year. M&F has also added Pure Depth, which has created 3-D technology that gives the illusion of actual depth on a computer screen.
