RICHMOND—CRT/tanaka has been retained by THOR-LO, a leader in the design and manufacture of protective sock products, and the Institute for Preventive Foot Health, which partners with THOR•LO to build awareness of the importance of foot health to consumers. The non-profit organization promotes awareness of and the need for preventive foot health as a key to long-term quality of life. The agency will provide strategic counsel and cause-related marketing for THOR-LO’s walking category and will support IPFH’s educational mission. “CRT/tanaka’s creativity, culture and experience made it a perfect fit for us,” said Jeff Lawson, marketing director for Thorlos.

BOSTON—Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications has added Covanta Energy, Erickson Retirement Communities and Lennar Corporation to the firm’s client roster. Additionally, the American Council of Engineering Companies, Citizens Bank of Massachusetts and Constellation NewEnergy have renewed their contracts with the firm. Covanta Energy, owner and operator of waste to energy facilities, has chosen the firm to design and implement a strategic communications program, including public relations, public affairs and crisis communications planning. Erickson Retirement Communities, a builder and manager of moderately priced continuing care retirement communities, has selected the firm to build its media profile among business and trade publications. And Lennar Corporation, also a builder, has selected Rasky Baerlein to provide public relations for its brand development efforts and to generate visibility for projects currently underway.

Widmeyer will help raise visibility for Renaissance Learning’s work and the benefits of its Accelerated Reader Enterprise software, which helps teachers build enthusiasm for reading.

NEW YORK—French/West/Vaughan has been retained by California-based Native Trails to provide PR support for its full line of luxury kitchen and bath products. FWV will be responsible for regional and national media relations in North America, product placement, trade show support and the development of designer outreach programs.

BALTIMORE, MD—Maroon PR has added two new clients: Ulman Cancer Fund and Baseball America for public relations initiatives, brand building and event production. 

ATLANTA—Arketi Group, an integrated marketing consultancy, has completed a re-branding effort for one of its pro bono clients, HealthMPowers (formerly Kids’ Health) that included renaming, logo creation and identity development work for the organization. The renaming and re-branding effort supports the Georgia non-profit organization’s mission to promote health-enhancing behaviors among students, school staff and families.
