New business success for Waggener Edstrom, Jeffrey, Lane, Maroon, Veritas and JMPR.

AUSTIN—Xplore Technologies Corp., the manufacturer of rugged tablet computers, has selected Waggener Edstrom Worldwide to build and share the Xplore story with key audiences, which include utilities and telecommunications, oil and gas, warehousing and distribution, and military markets.

MIAMI—Jeffrey Group has been hired by the Miami Marlins and will work with the Marlins in several areas including corporate communications. “As part of our decade-long commitment to South Florida, we feel it’s critical to enhance our dialogue with the community to ensure we are doing the best job possible,” says Marlins president David Samson. 

PORTLAND, OR—Lane, a public relations, digital marketing, and investor relations firm, has grown its consumer client base with addition of One Degree Organics, a a family-owned company centered on the values of simplicity, transparency and integrity; Orchard Supply Hardware Stores, a neighborhood hardware and garden store focused on paint, repair and the backyard; and Respect Your Universe, a performance apparel company focused on the needs of the athlete.

COLUMBIA, MD—Maroon PR has added Players’ Philanthropy Fund to its roster of clients. Recently launched by former NFL kicker Matt Stover, PPF is a philanthropic management tool that enables athletes, staff and associates to make charitable donations to the causes and foundations of their choice while protecting their financial assets and reputation from unnecessary risk.  Maroon PR will be working with PPF on all aspects of the company’s public relations and marketing initiatives. 

TORONTO—Beauty products compnay Coty Canada has selected Toronto-based Veritas Communications, which is partnering with Quebec-based Zak Communications, as its new Canadian PR agency of record.
