NEW YORK—Makovsky + Company has been retained by TransitCenter to help raise awareness of its tax-free commuter benefits programs among the nation’s employers. TransitCenter launched TransitChek, a commuter benefits program, in New York in 1987 as a way to encourage more people to use mass transit to reduce traffic, preserve natural resources and protect the environment. According to David Kuizenga, chief operating officer of TransitCenter, Makovsky was selected for its “high energy, creativity, a commitment to our mission and to detailed client service.”

BOSTON—American Retirement Corporation and Fiduciary Trust Company have retained Morrissey & Company to provide reputation management, strategic counsel and integrated communication services. For American Retirement Corporation, Morrissey will help the company launch its new Belmont property, Freedom Commons at Belmont Hill, a $200 million continuing care retirement community, by providing a wide range of integrated communications and public relations services.  The firm is also working with Fiduciary Trust Company to develop and implement an advertising campaign, and provide media planning and buying services.

NEW YORK—MGP & Associates PR has been named national public relations agency of record for Dr. Laura Schlessinger, a 30-year veteran of conservative talk radio, and her production company, Take On The Day. MGP will provide strategic public relations services for Dr. Laura’s syndicated radio program, various books, her one-woman show, her community relations activities and more.

WELLESLEY, MA—Nucleus Research, a global provider of IT research and advisory services, has retained Boldbrook Marketing & Public Relations as its new agency of record. Boldbrook will help Nucleus further build its brand and awareness in the marketplace. “The agency’s proactive marketing approach combined with the team’s deep understanding of the IT industry made Boldbrook a great fit for Nucleus,” said Ian Campbell, CEO of Nucleus Research.

CINCINNATI, OH—Gold Star Chili has selected Cincinnati integrated marketing agency Justice & Young to direct its public relations and online strategy and implementation. Agency vice president Rodger Roeser will oversee and direct the account, and provide overall marketing communications counsel and strategy to the franchised restaurant chain.

NEW YORK—Stanton Communications has been retained to manage public relations efforts for the New Jersey “Gold Coast” operations of national real estate developer K. Hovnanian Homes and for Florida-based water decontamination company Water Management Technologies II.

TORONTO—Canadian law firm WeirFoulds has appointed The Communications Group as public relations consultancy of record. Founded in 1860, WeirFoulds’ core areas of practice are litigation; corporate finance and M&A; commercial real estate/leasing & infrastructure development; and public sector law.
