New business successes for Ketchum, MWW, Maccabee, Lewis, Padilla, Blaze, Calypso, M&C Saatchi, Stir, and HKA.

DENVER—Avocados from Mexico, a newly-formed marketing agency dedicated to the Mexican avocado industry, is allocating $36 million to a campaign led by Arnold Worldwide as integrated agency of record and Ketchum as PR agency of record. The organization’s first fully integrated campaign aims to move the avocado from exotic to everyday.

CHICAGO—MWW has been hired as public relations agency of record by Melbourne-based Swisse Wellness, an Australian multivitamin brand. MWW’s health and wellness practice will provide North American market insights, strategic counsel and develop a national communications campaign for the US launch of Swisse Wellness. Work will include national media and influencer relations, educating consumers about the Swisse product portfolio.

MINNEAPOLIS—Jostens, the Minneapolis-based national producer of class rings, diplomas, yearbooks and photo books for high schools, colleges, championships sports teams and other groups; and PsyBar, the Edina, MN-based company offering forensic psychological/psychiatric consultation, hiring counsel, threat-of-violence and fitness-for-duty evaluations for employers, have chosen Maccabee as public relations and social media marketing agency to provide media relations, corporate and internal communications counsel.

SAN FRANCISCO—Lewis PR has been appointed to handle a PR program across North America and Europe for Spectralink, a global leader in wireless solutions for the workplace. Lewis will drive the global PR strategy to raise the profile of Spectralink following its divestiture from Polycom in December 2012. Campaign goals include building brand equity with customers and partners, and educating on how Spectralink’s solutions solve everyday communications challenges in the workplace.

MINNEAPOLIS—Padilla Speer Beardsley has been engaged as agency of record by Airbac, a new backpack company that uses a patented technology to relieve the stress and weight of carrying a heavy bag. Padilla will help raise awareness and build credibility for the Airbac product and brand. The firm’s New York office will lead the work, which will include message development, national media relations, events and social media.

SANTA MONICA—Madison Holdings, owner of Blue C Sushi and Boom Restaurant chains, has selected Blaze to handle public relations and social media for both concepts. The agency’s approach to raising brand awareness in current Washington locations and market expansion in California include an aggressive media relations campaign as well as social media strategy and execution.

PORTSMOUTH, NH—Calypso Communications has again been named public relations and marketing agency of record by Detroit Renewable Energy, a consortium of integrated renewable energy assets that owns and operates renewable energy-from-waste project Detroit Renewable Power. Calypso provides strategic public relations, media outreach, crisis management, community engagement, and creative services to the DRE consortium.

NEW YORK—M&C Saatchi PR has been selected as the retained PR agency for Ubersense, a leading video analysis community for sports coaches and athletes. The Saatchi team, led by senior VP Sandra Carreon-John and VP Richard Barker, will oversee PR strategy for the brand, with a focus on developing presence for Ubersense amongst sports, consumers and media.

MILWAUKEE—STIR Advertising & Integrated Messaging has added several new accounts, including public relations assignments from Cousins Subs, a Wisconsin-based sub sandwich chain; AXIS Automation, designer and builder of large-scale automation systems and machinery; and Halloin Murdock, a Milwaukee law firm.

TUSTIN, CA—HKA Marketing Communications, a public relations and marketing agency, has been retained by the Alzheimer’s Association, Orange County, to provide public relations services. HKA has embarked on a communications program to bolster awareness of services and support, education and research for Alzheimer’s disease throughout the county.
