Racepoint Group has appointed William Orr as executive vice president of its San Francisco office; plus new people in new roles at Goddard Claussen, CRT/tanaka, Environics, Fleishman-Hillard, LVM Group, Landis Communications, Warschawski, Martopia and Risdall Marketing Group.

SAN FRANCISCORacepoint Group has appointed William Orr as executive vice president of its San Francisco office. For nearly two decades, Orr has served in executive positions at several international communications firms. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and managing director for MS&L Worldwide, where he managed new business efforts, led integrated marketing communications programs and spearheaded strategic communications initiatives for clients in the healthcare, digital entertainment, public affairs, clean technology, mobile, consumer marketing and technology industries.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Gerry Gunster has been named partner at public affairs firm Goddard Claussen. Previously, Gunster served as executive vice president and executive director of firm, managing national and state advocacy issues and directing statewide ballot measures and has taken the lead with a long-time Goddard Claussen client the American Beverage Association in its fight against the beverage tax.

RICHMOND, VA—Pablo Olay has been hired as a vice president in CRT/tanaka’s New York office. Prior to joining CRT/tanaka, he was chief marketing officer at Progressive Book Club. He will serve as the campaign director for the Wines from Rioja (Spain) account. In addition, Tracy Carlson has been hired as a senior account executive in the agency’s New York office and Karen de Groot has been hired as a senior account executive in the agency’s Los Angeles office and will lead the agency’s Charles Schwab & Co. and Air New Zealand accounts.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Environics Communications has added David Farmer as a vice president in its Washington, D.C. office. Farmer will head the agency’s U.S. technology and telecommunications practice. Before joining Environics, Farmer was vice president of corporate communications and marketing at SkyTerra Communications, a leading supplier of mobile satellite communications services. Prior to SkyTerra, he held public relations and marketing positions at Telenor Satellite Services and COMSAT Corporation, which was acquired by Lockheed Martin. Farmer began his career with Sprint International.

VANCOUVER, BC—Fleishman-Hillard International Communications has added Diana Barkley to its Vancouver office. In addition to running her own agency in Vancouver for more than 15 years, Barkley has worked on the client side, having directed the public affairs division of an international corporation based in Vancouver. Her expertise encompasses strategic planning, issues management and crisis communications, community and media relations to corporate social responsibility.

NEW YORKLVM Group has promoted Rachel Antman to vice president. Antman  joined LVM Group in 2004.   Previously, she worked for four years at Weber Shandwick in London and in Washington, D.C. 

SAN FRANCISCO—Landis Communications has hired Robert Farmer as senior account supervisor. He has two decades experience in communications, media and public relations. Previously, Farmer was with the Jeffrey Scott Agency in San Francisco, where he developed and implemented strategic communications campaigns for national, regional and local businesses. His prior background includes directing the editorial departments of two publications in California’s central valley and in the San Francisco Bay Area.


BALTIMOREWarschawski has promoted Justin Michaliga to interactive developer.  In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing interactive and web-related projects for clients.  Previously, Michaliga served as creative associate at Warschawski, which he joined in 2009 after serving as web designer for Inside Lacrosse, where he maintained the company’s web properties, including blogs and in-game wrap-ups. 

CHICAGO—Martopia, a branding, marketing, public relations and interactive firm, has named Mitch Cohen as senior public relations and media strategist. Cohen has a decade of experience working in the mortgage technology and financial services industry and was previously the owner of his own communications consultancy. Cohen is responsible for establishing Martopia’s New York presence and ensuring that Martopia clients are well positioned with national business and consumer media, as well as with New York based trade media. The firm currently has offices in Chicago and Ann Arbor, Mich.


NEW BRIGHTON, MN—Risdall Marketing Group has added Matt Bergen as interactive creative director. Most recently, Bergen worked at McCann Erickson Worldwide and Martin Williams as a senior designer.
