Promotions at Engage PR and Peppercom, and a new hire at Utopia Communications.

ALAMEDA, CA—Engage PR has named Jeannette Bitz, an 11-year veteran of the firm, a partner in the company. As partner, Bitz will direct the agency’s long-term strategy, assist in business development, and help manage day-to-day operations, while maintaining her current responsibilities as senior client counsel and business media specialist. Bitz has been the account lead on several clients, including Airespace, Ascend Communications, Riverbed Technology, Ikanos Communications, and Calix.

NEW YORK—Peppercom has promoted Marya Pongrace to director. In her new role, Pongrace will be responsible for overall strategy and management of a variety of existing accounts, mining for and leading new business efforts, and continuing to build Peppercom’s strategic events division, Peppercommotions. Pongrace joined Peppercom in 2000 and in 2002 moved to London to help open Peppercom’s European headquarters before returning to the New York office, where she co-created Peppercommotions.

RED BANK, NJ—Helene Novin Strumeyer has joined Utopia Communications as an account director. During her tenure with several of the country’s leading firms including Fleishman-Hillard and Edelman Worldwide, Strumeyer developed and managed marketing communications and issues management programs for clients including UNICEF, Warner Lambert, Wyeth, Lockheed Martin, International Paper, US Airways, and Huizenga Inc.
