Anna Morrison has been named social media specialist at Carmichael Lynch Spong, plus new people in new roles at MWW Group, Widmeyer Communications, Weber Shandwick, Crosby-Volmer,Ackerman PR and Capstrat.

MINNEAPOLIS—Anna Morrison has been named social media specialist in the Minneapolis office of public relations firm Carmichael Lynch Spong, after previously serving as an intern for the agency. In this new role she is responsible for researching social media opportunities for client initiatives as well as advising client teams on strategic blogger relations and effective social media practices. She comes to CLS from The Angel Foundation, a Minneapolis-based charitable organization working to fulfill unmet non-medical needs of adult cancer patients and their families. 

DALLAS—MWW Group has promoted Matthew Averitt to vice president, corporate communications, in the company's Dallas office. Since joining MWW more than two years ago, Averitt has helped guide public relations strategy for a number of corporate accounts. Prior to joining MWW Group, Averitt worked at Burson-Marsteller where he led account teams and was responsible for new business development and writing and media relations activities.


WASHINGTON, D.C.—Widmeyer Communications has added Renée Rosenfeld as vice president and executive producer of the firm’s creative studio, and Sara Kabakoff as marketing manager. Rosenfeld is responsible for media project execution and oversight, working with corporate and nonprofit clients. Prior to joining Widmeyer, Rosenfeld led the strategy to create and build the America’s Most Wanted Safety Center. Kabakoff will promote Widmeyer and its clients. Before coming to Widmeyer, she was a marketing and communications associate at the National Building Museum.


MINNEAPOLIS—The Minneapolis-St. Paul office of Weber Shandwick has promoted Lida Poletz to vice president in the financial services practice. Since joining the agency in 2003, Poletz has been working on the firm’s award-winning U.S. Treasury campaign, directing a team in Minneapolis, as well as individuals in eight other Weber Shandwick and partner-agency offices. Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, she was a senior financial journalist with Reuters.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Crosby-Volmer International Communications has promoted several employees, including Larry McAlister, promoted to partner; Jennifer Elena and Luke Punzenberger, promoted to vice president; Ashley Dos Santos and Jason Schneider, promoted to account supervisor; Jordan Hassin, Andrea Kurys and Dan Woodley, promoted to senior account executive; and Patrick Moore promoted to director of online media.


KNOXVILLE, TN—Longtime chief financial officer Crystal Cardwell has been promoted to chief operating officer at Ackermann PR. In her new role, she will oversee day to day operations and focus on productivity and profitability.

RALEIGH, NC—Capstrat has added Shane Johnston as vice president and account director. Johnston will partner with Capstrat clients to develop and implement marketing campaigns. Prior to joining Capstrat, he worked in numerous marketing roles for both Nortel and Sprint. At Sprint, Johnston helped develop product marketing strategies for the launch of the nation’s first wireless 3G network.
