Michael Waxman, a veteran strategic communications and public affairs consultant in Los Angeles, is joining Hyde Park Communications as vice president to work on public affairs issues. He will be based in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Michael Waxman, a veteran strategic communications and public affairs consultant in Los Angeles, is joining Hyde Park Communications as vice president to work on public affairs issues. He will be based in Washington, D.C. Waxman joins Hyde Park Communications after founding and managing Waxman Consulting, a Los Angeles-based firm that specializes in public affairs, strategic communications and community relations. Before launching his own firm, Waxman spearheaded community and government relations efforts as director of public affairs at Charter Communications and was manager of community affairs at Falcon Cable TV. MINNEAPOLIS—Carmichael Lynch Spong has promoted Sara Blood to media relations strategist. Blood joined the firm in 2000 after serving for four years as a news reporter and photojournalist at various newspapers throughout Minnesota and currently develops overarching media relations plans for clients and also provides media relations counsel and implementation. Kristi Nelson has been promoted to media relations manager at the firm. Nelson joined CLS as senior media relations specialist in 2005. And Crystal Schweim has been promoted to counselor. She joined the firm three years ago from Bokoo Bikes, a bicycle and outdoor retail chain. CHARLOTTE—Alan Taylor Communications, a leader in lifestyle and sports public relations, has added four senior communications professionals in its growing Charlotte office, including vice president Jessica Blue, who joins from French/West/Vaughan. Blue has expertise in consumer and lifestyle marketing, working with clients such as Diageo, Jantzen and Pfizer. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Blue was with Ketchum in Washington, D.C. Also joining are account director Glenn Mandel from GolinHarris International and senior account executives Adriana Wells from KEF Media and Kristin Ianiero from MWW Group. CHICAGO—Kiran Advani has joined Zapwater Communications as group director. Advani manages client relations for the agency, develops new business opportunities, and handles media relations for multiple clients in the arts, corporate, hospitality and fashion practices. Advani joins Zapwater after three years servicing fashion and luxury lifestyle clients with her own independent media relations and specialty marketing practice. ALBANY, NY—Hilary Kellogg, who joined Sawchuk Brown Associates in 2006 after serving in the Albany office of Senator Hillary Clinton, has been promoted to public affairs specialist.
