MedThink Communications has named Michael Szumera as vice president and public relations practice lead, plus new people in new roles at Weber Shandwick, Zizzo Group, and Risdall Marketing Group.

RALEIGH, NC—MedThink Communications, a full-service healthcare communications company, has named Michael Szumera as vice president and public relations practice lead. In his new role, Szumera reports to Walt Clarke, partner, and will focus on integrating strategic public relations solutions into existing client programming, social media, new business development and external communications for the agency. Most recently, Szumera was director, public relations and marketing communications, at Lazar Partners, and earlier was managing director in the healthcare practice at Burson Marsteller in New York.

 

CHICAGO—Weber Shandwick has appointed Alecia Dantico as vice president in its digital communications practice, based in Chicago. Dantico brings more than 12 years of digital experience in both the business-to-business and business-to-consumer space. She most recently worked as director of social media for Garrett Popcorn Shops launching the global brand into the social media space. Prior to this, Dantico was an interactive portfolio manager at Sears, where she focused on executing business product development programs to extend Sears’ online service and direct distribution interactive channels.

MILWAUKEE—Zizzo Group Advertising and PR has added Katina Jordan to its creative team as senior art director. In her new role, Jordan will generate creative solutions for the firm’s healthcare, financial and business-to-business clients. Prior to joining ZGA+PR, Jordan worked with several regional agencies.

 

NEW BRIGHTON, MN—Risdall Marketing Group has hired Karen Van Heiden to its online marketing division, where her responsibilities will include evaluating client websites to increase search engine optimization. Van Heiden previously served as executive director for Iowa’s Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce.
