New people in new positions at GolinHarris, 360 Public Relations, Westbound Communications, Weber Shandwick, and Zapwater Communications.

CHICAGOGolinHarris has promoted Bess Bezirgan to senior vice president in its corporate communications practice. Based in Chicago, Bezirgan will continue as a central member of The Dow Chemical account team, specifically managing the sustainability team, as well as working on key account relationships with BP, the American Red Cross, and Pactiv. Prior to joining GolinHarris, Bezirgan served as director of public relations for the Ministry of Finance in the Cayman Islands. For many years, she was also a senior advisor to former U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush, serving successively as press secretary, deputy chief of staff, and acting chief of staff. 


BOSTON360 Public Relations has promoted two key staff members. Carrie Kocik has been promoted to vice president and Courtney Curzi has been promoted to account director. In her new role, Kocik will lead 360PR’s Food & Family Practice. She joined the agency in 2004, and previously held positions at Ogilvy Public Relations and Dow Jones. Curzi, a veteran of toy industry and home entertainment PR, will direct campaigns for many of the agency’s home goods and services clients.


ORANGE, CA--Westbound Communications has hired Rick Miltenberger as senior vice president to focus on expanding the firm’s healthcare, business-to-business and technology practices. Miltenberger previously worked as Mission Hospital’s marketing director, responsible for day-to-day branding, marketing and communications. Prior to Mission, Miltenberger spent more than 15 years with public relations agencies including Magnet Communications, Amies Communications and Portmann Communications. He has a long working relationship with Westbound and worked with Westbound president Scott Smith and SVP Carrie Gilbreth at CSP Communications and Magnet.


BLOOMINGTON, MN—Weber Shandwick has promoted Aaron Pearson to senior vice president in its technology practice. Pearson specializes in developing trade media relations, analyst relations and vertical market programs primarily for enterprise technology companies. Before joining Weber Shandwick in 1997, Pearson worked at Minneapolis-based Dillon Advertising & Public Relations.


CHICAGO—Zapwater Communications has added Holly Ramsey as publicist. Most recently, Ramsey worked at L.C. Williams & Associates where she specialized in home and corporate clientele such as Electrolux, Eureka, and U.S. Cellular. She began her career at Weber Shandwick Worldwide/Chicago, where she worked closely with national consumer clients Sears Roebuck and Co., Campbell’s and Staples.
