Elizabeth Curwen has joined Widmeyer Communications as a vice president in the public affairs practice, plus new people in new positions at GolinHarris, Arment Dietrich, Spectrum Science, Gable PR and Vox Medica.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Elizabeth Curwen has joined Widmeyer Communications as a vice president in the public affairs practice. Prior to joining Widmeyer, Curwen was a senior associate in APCO Worldwide’s issues management and grassroots practice where she worked with a global team of professionals and specialized in chemical and pharmaceutical issues management. She previously served as director of public affairs for the American Chemistry Council.

 

DALLAS—GolinHarris has promoted Glen Orr to senior vice president in its Dallas office. Orr will continue his senior role advising clients on the development of sustainability programs, preparing for and responding to crises and issues as well as counseling corporate communications clients. Since joining GolinHarris in 2006, Orr has managed successful communications campaigns for clients such as Dow Chemical, Texas Instruments, PULSE, and The National Association of Tower Erectors. 

 

CHICAGO—Diane Blazek has joined Arment Dietrich as vice president of strategic business development. Most recently, Blazek was president and publisher of Ball Publishing, a division of Ball Horticultural Company. In addition, Tara Dunne Stocker joins as a managing supervisor after serving as the managing principal of Chaffee Group, a boutique integrated marketing agency; Tanya Flynn joins as a managing supervisor, responsible for client relations, program development, and media strategy from CareerBuilder.com, where she was corporate communications manager; and Wes Polen joins as director of human resources and finance, with an emphasis on employee relations.

 

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Spectrum Science Communications has promoted Susie Tappouni to vice president. Tappouni will continue to provide strategic counsel to clients while taking on a new role as a manager in the company’s client service group, helping to ensure clients receive exceptional service and results. She joined Spectrum in March 2002and has worked on education, product launch and branding initiatives on behalf of numerous pharmaceutical, biotech and advocacy organizations.

 

SAN DIEGO—Erin Koch has rejoined Gable PR after a stint at Davies Public Affairs in Santa Barbara. Koch, previously an account manager at Gable PR, was named agency director, responsible for driving results for the agency’s clients and managing and recruiting new team members amd will be increasingly involved in implementing Gable PR’s growth plans as the agency enters its third year in business.  Prior to his work at Gable PR, Koch served on the senior staff of U.S. Congressman Bob Filner as communications director for two and a half years.

 

PHILADELPHIA—Healthcare communications specialist Vox Medica has hired Stephanie Vieira as vice president, client solutions and director, brand recognition. Vieira most recently was a vice president at Manning Selvage & Lee’s healthcare division in New York and earlier was a senior account supervisor at Cohn & Wolfe. In addition, Joann Flynn has joined the firm as VP, client solutions and director, education & adult learning.
