BOSTON—Akamai Technologies, best known for having deployed the world’s largest, globally-distributed computing platform, has chosen FitzGerald Communications as its public relations agency of record. FitzGerald’s programs for Akamai will focus primarily on media relations, thought leadership programs, and speaking opportunities to support the Company’s vision of The Business Internet.

“FitzGerald is synergistic with Akamai in its ability to understand how a technology-based service organization works and how to combine strategic thinking with smart implementation to deliver the best results for clients,” said Jeff Young, director of public relations for Akamai. “We expect that it will operate as an extension of our marketing team.”

FitzGerald’s work will draw on Akamai’s technical expertise and large, growing customer base of enterprises and government agencies to support thought leadership programs on utility computing, internet security and driving revenue on the internet. The firm will also evangelize Akamai EdgeComputing, an evolution of the company’s content and application delivery services that enables enterprises to deliver J2EE Web applications that scale ‘on demand.’

The assignment will also include communicating Akamai’s view into the inner-workings and overall health of the Internet, and how this unique visibility translates into customer value.

NEW YORK—FitzGerald Communications has added TradeCard to its growing roster of New York clients. TradeCard, an online platform that optimizes financial processes in the global supply chain, follows five other recent wins in New York, where the Boston-based agency has seen growth from the B2B infrastructure software and services category.

“We conducted an in depth search to select an agency and wanted a partner who could understand and embrace our business, and translate company objectives into PR strategies that enhance our visibility in the U.S. market,” said Lois Bruu, vice president, market development, for TradeCard.  “We have been very pleased with the results to date from the FitzGerald team. Its creativity, proactivity and levels of client service are exceptional.”

Agency founder and CEO Maura FitzGerald says the growth in New York is fueled in part by a return to the levels of profitability, venture capital funding and visibility deserving of products and services upon which successful technology infrastructure is built and commerce enabled.

“New York is a key market for FitzGerald,” said Maura FitzGerald, agency founder and CEO.  “The technology companies in New York are sophisticated consumers of public relations. They demand a communications partner that can understand their technology and complex business problems and quickly provide the most strategic and impactful solution for them.  I am delighted that these discerning companies have chosen FitzGerald.”
