AUSTIN—Darcy Communications/Houston, a public relations firm specializing in issues and crisis management, has merged into The Alliant Group, a Texas-based public relations and marketing agency serving clients nationwide.

Bruce Hicks, Darcy’s president and founder, becomes a senior director of The Alliant Group and general manager of Houston-based operations. The Alliant Group has operations in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio in Texas, as well as Kansas City and New York.

“Our two agencies have worked under nearly identical philosophies that clients deserve more than they typically receive from traditional agencies. They deserve the constant personal focus of senior, seasoned executives,” said Steve Eames, chairman and CEO of The Alliant Group.

Eames and John Pope, president and COO, founded Alliant after working in the news media and serving as public relations and marketing executives at some of America’s best known corporations, including IBM, Coastal Corporation, USAA and Sematech. Hicks was vice president of corporate communications for Texas Air Corp. and its subsidiaries, Continental Airlines, New York Air and Texas International Airlines.

Hicks said the merger would not affect Denver-based Darcy Communications, which remains independent.
