NORTHFIELD, IL—Mark Berlind is joining Kraft Foods in October as executive vice president, global corporate affairs. Berlind will be responsible for all of Kraft’s corporate affairs functions, including issues management, corporate responsibility initiatives, media relations, contributions and internal communications. In addition, Berlind will be responsible for the government affairs team supporting the food business.
He will report to Roger Deromedi, chief executive officer of Kraft Foods, and join the Kraft executive team. Berlind replaces Michael Mudd who is retiring after more than 20 years with the company.
Berlind has extensive experience in global issues management, in particular media relations, corporate responsibility and government affairs, primarily from his work at Altria Corporate Services, a unit of Altria Group, which is Kraft’s parent. Prior to joining Altria, Berlind served as general counsel at Cap Gemini/Gemini Consulting.
“Michael Mudd’s counsel and experience will be missed,” said Deromedi. “However, Mark’s thorough understanding of the Corporate Affairs function, combined with his expertise in issues management, communications, corporate responsibility and government affairs, will serve him well in this role. At the same time, I want to thank Michael for all of his contributions to Kraft over the years and wish him a long and happy retirement.”
