WASHINGTON, D.C.—AARP has appointed Michelle Alvarez to the newly created position of senior manager of media relations to support AARP’s publications, broadcast and entertainment efforts. Alvarez joins AARP from Hearst Magazines where she served as senior manager, handling day-to-day consumer and trade public relations for multiple titles
“With ad sales and readership of AARP The Magazine on the upswing, more titles in the AARP Books Program and ongoing improvements in our publishing and broadcasting efforts, this is the perfect time for Michelle to join our team,” said Mark Kitchens, AARP director of media relations. “Her knowledge of publishing and entertainment public relations will help the organization better tell our story and play a more active role in the media.”
Alvarez previously worked at Sloane & Company as an account executive.
