BEAVERTON, December 14—Nike has named Rick Anguilla vice president of brand communications, a newly created position focusing on developing the company’s brand platform. Anguilla joined Nike in 1994 and was formerly vice president of investor relations.

The company says Anguilla and his team will work across Nike’s global and regional organizations to integrate media relations planning and brand messaging with regional marketing and communications teams, corporate communications and investor relations.

“Rick is well suited for this important new position,” says Mark Parker, Nike brand president. “During his seven years as head of Nike’s investor relations department, he has demonstrated tremendous insight into the Nike brand and our consumers. We anticipate that he will continue to build upon those successes by developing a strong media relations platform to support Nike’s advertising and marketing initiatives globally.”

Prior to joining Nike, Anguilla served as vice president of investor relations at Tyco Toys.
