WASHINGTON, DC—Stig Albinus, a senior healthcare communicator who has held senior leadership roles with Burson-Marsteller and Porter Novlli, is joining APCO Worldwide to lead the New York healthcare practice.

In addition, Melissa Musiker, former director at the Grocery Manufacturers Association, joins APCO as a vice president based in Washington, DC. A practicing dietitian, Musiker brings experience in food and nutrition policy.

Prior to joining APCO, Albinus held multiple executive roles in Burson-Marsteller’s healthcare practice over the course of a 16-year tenure with the firm. As head of the company’s European healthcare practice, he was responsible for health care teams in 14 European markets. Later, he was appointed chairman of the company’s U.S. healthcare practice.

Most recently, Albinus was a partner and director of integrated client solutions at Porter Novelli in New York. Earlier in his career, he served as head of public affairs for the Danish Medical Association, a trade union comprising more than 20,000 practicing physicians.

As director of science policy, nutrition and health for GMA, Musiker served as a spokesperson on regulatory and legislative policy issues related to food, nutrition and health for the consumer packaged goods industry. Musiker was also an economist at the US Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, where she was engaged in policy research on the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs.
