WASHINGTON, D.C.— APCO Worldwide will provide communications support for the Clinton Global Initiative as part of a broad commitment to the initiative, a forum bringing together a community of global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. The firm will help members of the initiative garner interest for the causes they are addressing, demonstrate their success and highlight the achievements of CGI as a whole.

“The Clinton Global Initiative provides a platform for world leaders, business executives, nongovernmental organizations, philanthropists and scholars to take on the most pressing issues of our time,” says Bob Harrison, CGI chief executive officer. “CGI is delighted to work with APCO to promote our mission and highlight the tangible results of our commitment-making members.”

Former President Bill Clinton launched CGI, a project of the non-partisan Clinton Foundation in 2005 and since then CGI members have made nearly 1,000 Commitments to Action valued at upwards of $30 billion to improve more than 200 million lives in over 150 countries around the world.

APCO will also provide communication support for attendees at the 2008 CGI Annual Meeting, to be held in New York later this month, including media training and coordinating meetings with relevant journalists.
