Myra Joy Aronson, public relations manager for Compuware Corporation in Cambridge, died in the crash of American Airlines Flight 11 in New York City on September 11. Flight 11 was the first plane to crash into the World Trade Center. Aronson was 50.

Aronson had worked as a public relations consultant to many Boston companies before joining Compuware in May of 2000 as manager of public relations. She also taught public relations courses at Emerson College, served on the marketing committee for the Handel and Haydn Society, a period-instrument orchestra and chorus, and volunteered for medical programs to assist AIDS patients.

“We are devastated by this loss and our sympathies go out to her family and friends,” a Compuware spokeswoman told local reporters. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
