Ashanin to Head PR at Novartis Consumer Health

Marina Ashanin has been named head of communications at Novartis Consumer Health, a division of Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis AG.

NEW YORK—Marina Ashanin has been named head of communications at Novartis Consumer Health, a division of Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis AG. She will report to Paul Choffat, president and chief executive officer of the consumer health division.

Ashanin has 20 years of communications experience working for The Dow Chemical in several positions at both its corporate headquarters in Midland, Michigan, and European headquarters in Horgen, Switzerland. Immediately prior to her new post, Ashanin was public affairs director for Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa for Dow Europe-.

She began her career with The Dow Chemical in 1985 as a part of its communicator development program. Later she held communications and marketing posts in various units of the company in the U.S. and abroad in the public issues area, hydrocarbons and energy, chemicals, external communications, thermoplastics, employee communications, polyethylene and related products, and public affairs for central Europe, which included Germany, Switzerland, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

The search was handled by Heyman Associates, an international executive search firm specializing in public relations.
