Hume Brophy opens Singapore office; new people in new roles at PROI; new business at DT Communications; new practice at Sefiani.

SINGAPORE—Independent PR and public affairs firm Hume Brophy is expanding into Asia. The firm, with offices in Dublin, London, Brussels and Paris, is opening in Singapore. The new operation will be headed up by Una McGirr, a former European director at BT, who will serve as managing director of Hume Brophy Singapore. She spent 13 years with British Telecom in a range of roles, including head of European media relations and public affairs, and director of communications at BT Ireland.

NEW YORK—PROI Worldwide, a partnership of independent integrated communications firms, has appointed Richard Tsang chairman for the APAC region. Tsang is chairman of the Strategic Public Relations Group, one of the largest PR consultancies in Hong Kong, with operations in China and other markets. PROI Worldwide is actively expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific Region, where members include Adfactors PR and Integral PR in India, Cosmo Public Relations and Asahi Agency in Japan, Senate in New Zealand, INR in Korea, Awareness id in Vietnam, Red Public Relations and Senate/SHJ in Australia and SPRG in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.

HONG KONG—DT Communications Asia Pacific, the Hong Kong operation of China’s Blue Focus, has been appointed by the Standing Committee on Language Education & Research (SCOLAR) to organise what is hoped to be the world’s largest English language reading event in Hong Kong.

SYDNEY—Sefiani Communications Group has launched an investor relations service specifically designed to boost the  profile of micro- and small-cap ASX-listed companies among brokers, analysts, fund managers and business media in an effectively structured and measurable way. The service includes media analysis and broker research assessment, strategic planning workshops, and broker and investor targeting, as well as communication support for results announcements, annual reports, AGMs and investor roadshows.
