NEW YORK—Julie Atherton has been appointed worldwide director of Hill & Knowlton Digital, the firm’s digital communications practice. She will report to chief executive Paul Taaffe.
The H&K Digital practice is responsible for leading the firm’s activities in the three of the major growth areas in communications—conversation, community and content—and provides creative strategy and insight based on these trends to clients.
Atherton, who has been leading the U.S. digital practice for the past 18 months, takes over from practice founder Tony Burgess-Webb, now H&K’s chief marketing officer. Atherton joined H&K in November 2005. She was previously the founder and CEO of CYLO, a New York based digital agency focused on marketing strategy and implementation of interactive/enhanced TV, VOD, DVR, broadband and wireless technologies. Before that she was CEO of The Atherton Group, an international broadcast commercial production company with offices in New York, LA and London.
