B2B Firm Scott Partnership Expands Into China

The Scott Partnership, a U.K.-based business-to-business communications specialist, has entered the Chinese market with the opening of its new office in Shanghai, citing an opportunity in the market for both the firm and its clients.

SHANGHAI—The Scott Partnership, a U.K.-based business-to-business communications specialist, has entered the Chinese market with the opening of its new office in Shanghai, citing an opportunity in the market for both the firm and its clients.

 

According to Jacky Cheng, managing director of The Scott Partnership China, “In B2B markets, we need to be creative in communication. For example, our clients may have limited budget; that is usually the case in B2B companies, and our attitude towards this is to try our best to provide a cost-effective solution rather than rejecting clients’ request immediately.

 

“My past experience tells me that if you want to be a successful communication consulting agency in China, you would need to regard your clients as your business partners and grow with them, maintain flexibility when you deal with different requests and challenges.”

 

Prior to joining The Scott Partnership, Cheng founded EMG China, the Asia-Pacific arm of a business-to-business PR operation based in the Netherlands, which he grew from inception to more than 20 account managers.

 

The Scott Partnership was founded in 1996 in the U.K. and has expertise the life science, healthcare, chemical and materials, security, packaging, automation and analytical instruments sectors. The firm also opened a U.S. office in Boston in 2009.
