NEW YORK—California-based PainePR has hired Beth Balsam as general manager and managing partner of its New York office.
Balsam, who joins PainePR with nearly 20 years PR experience and after eight years at Fleishman-Hillard, will oversee all aspects of client service for New York-based agency accounts, including Polaroid, Lipton Tea, JPMorgan Chase and others. She will also oversee PainePR’s New York business development.
An expert in women’s lifestyle marketing, Balsam developed strategic and creative programs for a variety of clients including Procter & Gamble and Hasbro Games. Recently, she created a yearlong campaign celebrating the launch of the 20th Anniversary of Trivial Pursuit, capped by an event in Times Square featuring Rudy Giuliani and the Village People.
Prior to joining Fleishman-Hillard, Balsam was manager of public relations at Revlon, where she oversaw launches of the ColorStay Collection, Ciara Femme Fatale (fragrance) and Revlon Shadings (hair color) and where she was involved in financial public relations as Revlon planned its IPO.
According to agency CEO David Paine, “Beth has tremendous creativity, energy and strategic leadership skills, and she was our clear choice following an extensive search in the New York market for the best and brightest senior executive to lead our East Coast efforts.”
Gary Platt, president of New York-based Strategic Recruiting, led the search.
