Barclays Names James to Lead Corporate Affairs

Barclays has appointed Howell James as corporate affairs director. Howell will lead all areas of corporate affairs working closely with Barclays top management and board and will be responsible for media relations, public policy, internal communications and CSR.

LONDON—Barclays has appointed Howell James as corporate affairs director. Howell will lead all areas of corporate affairs working closely with Barclays top management and board and will be responsible for media relations, public policy, internal communications and corporate social responsibility. He will report to Cathy Turner, group human resources director.

 

Howell joins Barclays from the Cabinet Office where he acted as permanent secretary, government communications. His previous roles included director and founding partner of Brown Lloyd James, a PR consultancy; political secretary to the Prime Minister, Sir John Major; director of corporate affairs at Cable & Wireless; and director of corporate affairs at the BBC.
