SAN FRANCISCO—Brandee Barker, who stepped down as director of corporate communications at Facebook last November is teaming up with Apple’s vice president of worldwide marketing communications Allison Johnson to create a new public relations and marketing firm, according to reports in the technology media.
Barker has been working as a consultant, focusing on work with start-up companies, and has been providing advice to “daily deal” site GroupOn. She declined to comment on speculation about the new firm.
Barker spent four years at Facebook, and earlier held vice president positions at Zeno Group and Ruder Finn. Earlier in her career, she worked at Stamps.com, Oracle and GCI Group.
Johnson has been at Apple since 2005, heading marketing communications worldwide, but has a broad background in public relations in the technology sector. She joined Apple from HP, where she was senior vice president of global brand and communications, working closely with then CEO Carly Fiorina. Earlier in her career, she was director of media relations at Netscape and before that at IBM.
