LUDWIGSHAFEN—Chemicals giant BASF is combining its communications group and its corporate and government relations operation into a single unit. The new department, communications and government relations, will be headed by Elisabeth Schick, who has been responsible for corporate and government Relations since May 2008. The previous head of communications at BASF, Felix Gress, will become managing director of Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar  at the beginning of 2009.

Schick joined BASF in 1993 and after completing her training in communications at the company, acted as press spokeswoman for BASF at its Ludwigshafen headquarters and later held positions in various units, including human resources, at BASF Japan and at BASF IT Services.  She was appointed head of corporate communications Europe in October 2002.
