NEW YORK—BBC World has selected BBDO New York as its advertising agency partner and Weber Shandwick as public relations firm to launch its 24-hour BBC World News channel in the U.S. The decision follows BBC World’s first major cable operator deal with Cablevision and comes just three months after it announced a partnership agreement with Discovery Communications to distribute the 24-hour channel in the U.S.

“The launch of BBC World News in the U.S. represents a huge opportunity to increase the global reach of the channel,” said Seema Kotecha, head of marketing for BBC World. “Our research shows that there’s an increasing demand from U.S. viewers for an international news agenda and our unique news service will offer them an impartial, global perspective on world events.”
