NEW YORK—Edelman subsidiary PR21—founded in 1998 and with fees of around $17.4 million—has expanded its West Coast operations, opening a new office in Los Angeles and hiring two new managing directors: John Berard in San Francisco and Lisa Robinson in L.A. The firm now has five offices: London, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles
According to CEO Jerry Epstein, the agency’s plan for global growth is linked to building strong local presence in key markets in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. “The West Coast is extremely important to our growth and expansion plans,” says Epstein. “John and Lisa provide us with the type of leadership and strategic client service mentality that will help to position us as an industry leader.”
Robinson has expertise in the consumer and technology categories. Prior to PR21, she was vice president of marketing for ditto.com, a visual online search software company, where she led strategic planning on all marketing issues, developed the company’s identity campaign, and created a cohesive communications program. She also spent more than 12 years with Fleishman-Hillard and has worked with Ketchum and Burson-Marsteller.
For the last four years, Berard has been general manager of West Coast operations for FitzGerald Communications, a Boston-based high technology and life sciences public relations agency. He was previously general manager of the Fleishman office in San Francisco and also has experience with Hill & Knowlton in Washington, D.C. and New York.
Also joining the firm in L.A. is Megan Jordan, who will serve as a senior vice president and will lead West Coast consumer and healthcare practices. Jordan was previously with Manning Selvage & Lee.
Epstein says PR21 has been awarded $3 million of new business this year from clients include Alloy, Andrx, Berlex, Colgate, Evenflo, Grocery Outlet, MagRack, Morton’s Steakhouses, NUHEAT, Renco Group, Rostam, Schering AG, Sirius Satellite Radio, Sony Consumer Electronics, and Whirlpool.
