NEW YORK—Continuing its transformation, former dot-com public relations powerhouse Euro RSCG Middleberg has named Clifford Berman executive vice president in the firm’s consumer practice. Berman formerly headed the worldwide consumer practice at Edelman Public Relations.
At Middleberg, Berman will focus on expanding the firm’s consumer business while managing high-profile consumer public relations accounts. In addition, Berman will serve as a liaison to Euro RSCG MVBMS Partners, Middleberg’s parent company that counts Volvo, Intel, Schering-Plough and Nestle among its many powerful, globally recognized consumer brand clients.
Berman, who began his public relations career at Burson-Marsteller, has held senior management positions at Ketchum and Edelman, where consumer practice revenues doubled under his leadership. Prior to joining Edelman, he was co-founder and co-manager of Horton Berman Communications, a successful consumer and business-to-business marketing agency in New York and Los Angeles.
He has worked with companies in the food and nutrition, beverage, technology, healthcare, fashion/apparel, retail and travel industries, including Nabisco, Absolut, Microsoft MSN Network, Apple Computer, Liz Claiborne, AT&T, Eddie Bauer and Toys R Us.
“Middleberg has established itself as an innovative, dynamic firm and is a recognized leader among mid-size agencies,” Berman said. “With a strong base of existing consumer clients such as Tommy Hilfiger and Consumer Reports, and given its PR leadership within the Euro RSCG network, Middleberg’s consumer growth opportunities are enormous.”
The appointment of Berman is the second major senior personnel move announced by Middleberg this summer. In early August, the firm signed an exclusive partnership with Edward Nebb to provide investor relations and financial communications services to existing and future clients.
