ATLANTA—Blanc & Otus has named Steve McAbee general manager of the technology public relations agency’s Atlanta office.  McAbee brings 17 years of agency and corporate communications experience, including positions with Lucent, MCI, and AT&T.  He replaces office co-founders Beverly McDonald and Peter Baron.

“Steve brings a wealth of experience developing and managing communications programs and brand strategies,” said Greg Spector, Blanc & Otus president and CEO.  “He has a proven track record of building solid relationships with clients, as made evident in his former role at Blanc & Otus as a vice president in the Atlanta office.”

In his new position, McAbee is charged with managing the growth of the Atlanta office, as well as overall management and leadership of client account teams, client relationships and operations. The firm’s clients in Atlanta include Stonesoft, Elluminate, Highwall Technologies, VistaScape Security Systems, BroadWare, Vector Networks, and Quantum Loyalty Systems.

Prior to joining B&O, McAbee served as vice president of public relations at Trellis Photonics, an optical networking start-up in Columbia, Maryland.  Before that, he held numerous posts with Lucent Technologies, including serving as public relations director for the company’s $6 billion global fiber optic manufacturing business.
