HOUSTON — BMC Software’s VP of global communications Mark Stouse has left the enterprise company for an undisclosed venture.

Stouse is leaving his second tour at BMC Software after more than two years on the job. During his tenure, he oversaw the communications strategy regarding a major activist shareholder that resulted in BMC going private last year.

Eric DeRitis, who was hired last December, will transition into Stouse’s role — that included communications, analyst relations and customer engagement. Stouse previously led global communications at BMC between 2006 to 2010. In between the two stints at BMC, he held the top comms job at Honeywell Aerospace.

He is also known for developing the Influence Scoring System (ISS) that ties marketing and communications investment to sales productivity and other financial metrics. The system has been implemented at companies that Stouse has worked: HP, BMC and Honeywell.

Stouse says his departure has been in the works for several months and plans to disclose details on his next venture — which is expected to be related to ISS — in coming weeks.
