SAN FRANCISCO--Software giant BMC Software has selected Ogilvy PR as its new global PR agency-of-record, following a competitive review.

The business, estimated at more than $1 million, was previously handled by Waggener Edstrom, who declined to repitch for the account.

Ogilvy PR will handle corporate communications, thought leadership, digital influencer and media relations, product PR, social media and analyst relations in nearly 20 markets, including the United States, EMEA, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

The account will be run Ogilvy’s technology practice, led by its San Francisco office.

“Based on Ogilvy PR’s integrated approach to corporate reputation management, social media and technology PR, and their informed approach to analyst relations, I can’t think of a better agency to support our global business” said Kasey Holman, associate vice president of global communications at BMC Software.

“Throughout the review process, we were quite impressed by the efficiency and competency of their global network and we know what kind of quality we can expect, since we have been working with their office in Sydney for the past seven years.”

BMC is one of the largest software companies in the world, and focuses on business service management products. Its key competitors include CA, HP and IBM.
