NOTTINGHAM, UK--Leading UK retailer Boots has called a review of its six-figure UK PR account, putting four-year incumbent Lexis PR on alert.

The review covers consumer duties for Boots UK, the pharmacy, health and beauty chain that last month reported sluggish sales growth across its UK stores.

Boots UK head of PR Una Mullan told the Holmes Report that the brief will “go to a selected list of agencies” including Lexis PR.

“The company has been working for four years with Lexis PR and has seen some excellent results over the years,” added Mullan. “This is a standard best-practice review to ensure that Boots UK is fully supported in the future to deliver against its business objectives.”

Mullan said that Boots is hoping to complete the process by the end of the summer.

Lexis PR won Boots UK’s consumer PR account in early 2007, following a three-month review that featured as many as 60 agencies.

Last month, Boots UK reported sales growth of just 0.4 percent, noting that tough trading conditions are likely to persist this year.
