Brand marketing experts join SABRE jury

Arun Sudhaman

Public relations experts representing some of America’s most respected brand marketers—from MillerCoors to PepsiCo to Procter & Gamble to Wrigley—will be among the judges in this year’s SABRE Awards competition, bringing insights gleaned from developing marketing and social media campaigns for beloved brands to the process of evaluating the year’s best public relations programs. Bryan McCleary, director of external relations at Procter & Gamble’s $10 billion baby care division, has helped the world’s largest advertiser evolve its marketing model to focus on alternatives to traditional 30 second commercials, with a particular focus on brand public relations and what P&G calls influencer marketing. He has led award-winning public relations campaigns across a wide variety of P&G categories including oral care, personal health, and food and beverage. Bryan has also worked on the integration of Gillette into the P&G fold, including an assignment in Geneva working across Western and Eastern Europe. Before joining P&G in 1997, Bryan served for five years as press secretary to US Senator John Glenn. Andy Pharoah is vice president of corporate affairs at Wrigley, having joined the iconic chewing gum company as EU director of corporate affairs and global public policy lead in 2008. He was previously head of the corporate practice for Hill & Knowlton in the UK, and before that held communications positions with the British Road Federation and The Labour Party. Jamie Stein is director of digital initiatives at PepsiCo, with particular expertise in building brand advocacy among women using social media. Previously, she was communications director for the Tropicana and Naked Juice brands at PepsiCo and director of public relations and influencer marketing at Quaker Oats. Earlier in her career, she worked on the agency side of the business at Fleishman-Hillard. Jonathan Stern is senior director of marketing communications at MillerCoors, responsible for communications programs across a portfolio of brands that includes Miller Lite, Coors Light, MGD64, Blue Moon, Leinenkugel’s, Miller High Life, Keystone Light, Peroni, and Pilsner Urquell. Before joining MillerCoors in 2006, he was a senior vice president for Cramer-Krasselt’s public relations operation, CKPR, in Milwaukee; director of marketing communications for the NYC2012 Olympic bid, and worked at Burson-Marsteller, Weber-Shandwick and Dan Klores Communications.
