BOSTON, August 12—Red Hat, a premier provider of Linux and open source solutions, has selected Brodeur Worldwide as its public relations agency of record.

Brodeur will help Red Hat on a broad range of communications activities aimed at reaching its enterprise customers and maintaining relationships with the open source community.

“We chose Brodeur Worldwide for three reasons: for its superb analysis of our market, for its energy, creativity and enthusiasm, and for its media monitoring and analytics tools. These in particular were a key differentiator, as they deliver high quality metrics, “ said Mark de Visser, vice president of marketing at Red Hat.

Red Hat, which previously worked with Massachusetts-based Schwartz Communications, is the largest Linux and open source provider, with a 52 percent market share among Linux operating systems. Its partners include companies such as Compaq, Dell, IBM and Intel.
