ARLINGTON, VA—Christopher Chiames has been named senior vice president of corporate affairs at US Airways. He will be responsible for the company’s government relations and corporate communications functions, including media and employee communications.
 
Chiames, who has spent more than 11 years in the airline business, most recently led Burson-Marsteller’s transportation and tourism public affairs practice as managing director. Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller, Chiames served for five years as managing director of public relations at American Airlines.
 
He also held key government affairs and communications positions with the airline industry’s trade group, the Air Transport Association. He began his professional career as press secretary to former House Majority Whip Tony Coelho.
 
“Chris brings with him many years of communications and government affairs experience and I am delighted that he is joining us at this crucial period for the company,” said US Airways president and chief executive officer Dave Siegel.
