KUALA LUMPUR—Burson-Marsteller has opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur. The office will be led by Joycelyn Lee, who brings 19 years of experience in journalism and public relations to the role of director and market leader.

The move builds on the announcement earlier this year of an affiliate relationship with Malaysian firm Essence Communications, which remains a close partner for Burson-Marsteller in Malaysia. The new office will open with a team of six consultants and will initially focus on corporate and financial communications, public affairs and government relations, crisis communications and issues management and digital.

Lee began her career as a business journalist writing for leading publications in Malaysia, including The Edge, The Sun, Business Times and The New Straits Times. She has also worked in public relations in Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.
