Burson Names Foster to Lead U.S. Healthcare

Burson-Marsteller has named Chris Foster chair of its U.S. healthcare practice. As U.S. chair, Foster will play a significant role in defining new opportunities and growing the market for the practice.

WASHINGTON D.C.—Burson-Marsteller has named Chris Foster chair of its U.S. healthcare practice. As U.S. chair, Foster will play a significant role in defining new opportunities and growing the market for the practice. He will be bsed in Washington D.C., and will report to Patrick Ford, Burson’s U.S. president and chief executive officer.

Foster, who had been leading the practice on an interim basis since November 2007, has worked with a wide variety of pharmaceutical and corporate clients, including Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Novartis, Amgen, and Premier.

Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller, Foster was the general manager and senior vice president of CarryOn Communications, where he was responsible for opening the East Coast operations in New York and Washington, D.C. Earlier, he was a vice president at Fleishman-Hillard Public Relations. Foster has also served as a director in Burson-Marsteller’s U.S. healthcare practice, and deputy director of training at the American Association of Health Plans.

He also serves on the board of directors for the American Heart Association (Greater Washington Region) and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the University of Virginia. Foster has been a guest lecturer at Columbia University (School of Continuing Studies) and Western Kentucky University.
