NEW YORK—Burson-Marsteller has appointed Maury Lane as president of Burson Campaigns, a new corporate issues management unit that will help corporations manage issues critical to corporate reputation, operations and business development. The new division will be based in Memphis, Tenn.

Most recently, Lane served as director of issues, crisis and public affairs communications for the FedEx Corporation. In that role, he led and counseled strategic crisis, issues and public affairs communications planning and execution of those international programs for FedEx Corporation and its operating companies globally.

Earlier, Lane was a corporate communications strategist for FedEx Express and president and principal at Hill Country Communications, a full-service agency serving companies in telecommunications, public affairs, manufacturing, high-tech and media fields. Lane also was the key strategist and lobbyist for Westinghouse Corp. in its acquisition of CBS and Infinity Broadcasting.

He began his career in Washington, DC, working as a legislative assistant for former US Representative Beverly Byron and former U.S. Senator Donald Riegle. He also served as communications director for US Senator Ernest Hollings.
