SACRAMENTO—Deborah Pacyna, communications director for Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, has joined Fleishman-Hillard as vice president. Pacyna will lead Fleishman-Hillard’s public affairs team in Sacramento and be a part of the firm’s global public affairs practice.
According to John Segale, general manager of Fleishman-Hillard in Sacramento, Pacyna “is highly respected and a proven communications counselor who is well-known both inside and outside the State Capitol. She provides strong leadership to our public affairs practice.”
Pacyna has served as the communications director for Lieutenant Governor Bustamante for the past two years. In that position, she coordinated media outreach, oversaw speech writing and developed communications strategy. Previously, she worked at Sacramento’s News10 (ABC) as an on-air reporter covering California politics. Her experience also includes covering the famine in Ethiopia, the Loma Prieta earthquake, the O.J. Simpson trial and numerous floods and fires.
In addition to leading the FH Sacramento public affairs group, Pacyna will serve as a liaison to the firm’s public affairs team located in Washington, D.C., and in other major cities throughout the country and around the world.
