Cable TV Exec Joins Frist Communications Staff

Paul Jacobson, vice president of corporate communications for Starz Encore Group, a provider of premium movie service for cable television, has been named deputy communications director to the new U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bill Frist.

ENGLEWOOD, CO—Paul Jacobson, vice president of corporate communications for Starz Encore Group, a provider of premium movie service for cable television, has been named deputy communications director to the new U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bill Frist.

“Paul Jacobson has done an excellent job guiding our corporate communications team across a wide variety of initiatives including new programming strategies and publicity, cable and satellite industry affairs, government and consumer relations, international business, technology, and corporate affairs,” said John. Sie, founder, chairman and CEO of Starz Encore. “He’s played a vital role as part of our senior management team and has contributed greatly to Starz Encore’s success.”

Jacobson joined Starz Encore in 1998, having served as director of corporate communications at Denver-based Ascent Entertainment Group, which owned the NHL Colorado Avalanche and NBA Denver Nuggets. Previously, he was press secretary to former U.S. Senator Warren B. Rudman (R-NH), handling media relations for numerous legislative issues. He was also deputy press secretary to former Senate Republican Leader Bob Dole.
