SANTA MONICA, CA—The California Avocado Commission has selected GolinHarris agency of record for its national and international public relations account. GolinHarris joins CAC’s other primary marketing agencies, including Colby & Partners (consumer advertising); Interactivate (Internet marketing); and Fusion Marketing (trade marketing and infotech).

“Bringing GolinHarris aboard to handle public relations for the CAC and Hass Avocado Board signals the beginning of a new epoch in our history,” says Mark Affleck, CAC president & CEO. “As we face the tumult and challenge of change in our hotly competitive world, it is imperative that we develop strategic communications across myriad stakeholder fronts. After considering every public relations agency on the planet, we felt GolinHarris was best equipped to get that job done.”

The account will be serviced out of the agency’s Los Angeles office. Other agencies that made finals for the account included Burson-Marsteller and Ogilvy PR. The search began with a review of 10 agencies and was managed by Dan Orsborn, senior partner with SelectResources International.

Golin’s experience with commodity groups includes international marketing assignments for the Florida Department of Citrus and the Cotton Council.
